On October 15, 2010, the Georgia Department of Education and Governor’s Office of Student Achievement released the final determination of Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for the 2009-2010 school year. A total of 20 schools will earn AYP, an increase of 6 schools from the first determination. Twelve schools will earn the Distinguished School classification for making AYP three or more consecutive years.

Interim Deputy Superintendent for Teaching & Learning Dr. Kathy Reese held a press conference with Principals and Administrators at Weaver Middle School to officially announce the 6 additional schools and discuss the challenges the district faces in improving student achievement.
