Addressing the Board
The Bibb County Board of Education welcomes citizens to attend its meetings and to observe its deliberations. In order to ensure orderly pursuit of business of the board and to provide opportunities for discussion of pertinent issues, the Bibb County Board of Education has adopted these rules:
- Citizens may request to speak regarding any item on the monthly agenda.
- Under circumstances to be determined by the board president, citizens may speak regarding items not on the monthly agenda.
- Citizens must submit a written request to speak which states their name, address, the topic to be addressed, and the names of school officials with whom the problem has already been discussed.
- Concerns about personnel may not be voiced.
- Concerns should not be brought to the board until they have been properly referred through the appropriate personnel: (Example: teacher>principal>assistant superintendent>deputy superintendent>superintendent).
- If several individuals wish to address the same matter, the board president may select representatives of each side of the issue to speak; and speakers must limit their comments to three (3) minutes.
