Department of Fine Arts

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a high quality education for all Bibb County students in a safe and comfortable environment and to make use of all human and technological resources in preparing graduates for post high school objectives.

Philosophy

We believe a quality music education program must be a sincere endeavor of all persons connected with the education of students in this school district. Because quality is, to a great extent, a matter of attitude, it is vital that all concerned and involved with education become cognizant of the fact that quality cannot be imposed but must be the result of sincere effort and commitment.

In all deliberations, it is paramount that music education maintains a posture of equalization with all other disciplines. If this is not a reality, commitment, program and quality may suffer.

Goals

The goals of a comprehensive music education program as stated in the Bibb County Curricular framework are to provide opportunities:

  • To develop the ability to perceive, perform and respond to music
  • To develop the ability to creatively organize musical ideas and sounds
  • To regard music as an essential aspect of history and the human experience
