Stimulate student and adult participation through improved marketing program for students, parents, staff and the community.
Operate a self sufficient, financially sound program.
Strive for maximum participation, showing a reasonable rate of increase from year-to-year.

Philosophy

Bibb County School Nutrition Program believes that the School Nutrition program is an integral part of the educational process. The program should be a key to providing every student with the opportunity to grow, develop and learn. It is the belief that nutrition is a fundamental need of all children and that adequate nutrition ensures healthy children and future healthy adults. The Bibb County School Nutrition Program plays a vital role in fulfilling this need by providing well-balanced meals that meet basic nutritional requirements in an environment that is attractive and invites a positive sense of self-esteem.

Nutrition Education

The School Nutrition Program uses a variety of materials to teach nutrition education to the students in Bibb County. The following explains a few of the materials used and methods of providing nutrition education.

Classes are taught every year and as often as requested. Managers are encouraged to spend at least one hour per month in the classroom. During the next school year they will be required to reach one-fourth of their school population or average 2 hours per month in Nutrition Education Activities. Currently managers teach classes and conduct kitchen tours and act as a resource for the classroom teacher. Many times managers assist with cooking projects in the classroom o providing services for the projects success.

Plans are currently underway to have all Nutrition Education Resources catalogued in the System Media Card Catalogue. These resources would be available for teachers and students to check out through the Resource Center at the Bibb County Administrative Offices.
